Can I run Linux as a Guest OS on Windows VPS

It is always comfortable to have virtualization technique that can host both the OS – e.g. Windows & Linux.

If your organization uses Linux and Windows OS in your data center, HyperV can be helpful. Microsoft HyperV can help you standardize, simplify, and reduce the cost of deploying and managing different OS and applications through Hyper-V™, which is included in the Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems.

Hyper-V is helpful to reduce the number of physical systems, decrease your management and administration costs, and expand functionality and resilience by making your Linux systems highly available.

At present, Microsoft is officially supporting the following Operating Systems:

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 with Service Pack 3 (x86 Edition or x64 Edition)
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86 Edition or x64 Edition)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.2, 5.3 , 5.4 and 5.5 (x86 Edition or x64 Edition)
