Is Windows hosting the right choice for .NET?

    VPS Hosting
Is Windows-based ASP.NET hosting still the best choice for .NET applications?

Yes, 100%. ASP.NET was built to run on Windows, and it just works better there. With IIS and Windows Server, you get smooth deployment and fewer compatibility headaches.

I agree. We’ve tried other setups in the past, but Windows hosting always gave us the most reliable environment for ASP.NET apps. Especially when you also need SQL Server.

Got it. What about newer versions of .NET, though? Does Windows still have the advantage?

For sure. Even with the latest .NET releases, Windows hosting is still the stronger choice. You get native support for the Microsoft stack, plus management tools like Plesk that make life easier.

We recently moved our apps to a Windows VPS. The performance boost was obvious, and managing updates + patches is simpler. ASP.NET on Windows feels more stable overall.

Same here. For small apps, shared Windows hosting is fine. For bigger ones, VPS or dedicated Windows hosting is better. Either way, Windows hosting just fits ASP.NET perfectly.

Some excellent points here. The bottom line is that Windows hosting is the best environment for ASP.NET applications because it’s designed to work hand-in-hand with Microsoft technologies like IIS, SQL Server, and the .NET Framework itself. Developers get faster deployment, better stability, and easier management compared to other setups. For anyone exploring this further, here is a good read:
