According to the latest news from Microsoft Corporation, it is going to launch the latest its latest OS in the form of Windows 10 this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages.
Terry Myerson, the executive vice president of Windows, Microsoft Corp., announced at the Windows Hardware Engineering Community Summit held in Shenzen on last March 18 that although a specific date for the launch is still not confirmed, the company has already decided to launch its newest OS, Windows 10 in summer this year.
Affirming the company’s decision for a summer launch, Myerson asserted in a post on the Microsoft’s official blog that, “Windows has always been global with more than 1.5 billion users around the world and here in China hundreds of millions of PCs operate Windows today. That’s why it was particularly fun to show our latest global innovation.”
Apart from the news of summer launch, he also disclosed a signed partnership deal with Tencent, the leading social network and gaming services company in the country. According to this deal between Microsoft and Tencent, the China-based company will provide this new OS as a free upgrade to its customers who are using Windows 7 and 8.1.
Relating this issue, Martin Lau, the president of Tencent said that, “Tencent and Microsoft will continue to work together on a number of Windows 10 initiatives, helping bring the excitement of Windows 10 and Tencent to millions of customers worldwide.”
At the same time, the company will also introduce one of the very first Windows 10 universal apps for Tencent’s QQ flagship app, to be accessed by more than 800 million users throughout China. Moreover, the company is also inclined to import some of its PC games cache such as “Cross Fire,” “Dungeon & Fighter,” and “League of Legends,” to Windows 10 and the new and improved Windows Store.
Besides, apart from Tencent, Microsoft is also about to enter in partnership with Lenovo to set up Windows 10 upgrade services in retail computer stores and around 2,500 service centers.
Both these partnership deals are clear steps taken by Microsoft to make Windows available in China and measures to control the problem of software piracy in the country.
Microsoft will also offer Windows 10 upgrade to its customers having non-genuine versions of Windows. It certainly is an immense step taken by Microsoft in comparison to its earlier attempts to stop software piracy in China.
