SSL installed, but site still not secure—why?

    VPS Hosting
I installed SSL on my site but the browser still shows a warning—how do I know if the certificate is set up properly?

Same thing happened to me a while back. I had the SSL installed correctly, but forgot to update the site URL in the settings to use HTTPS. Once I changed that and cleared the cache, the browser started showing it as secure. Might be worth checking your CMS or config file if you're using one.

Check if your site’s loading mixed content—like images or scripts over HTTP. That can trigger a warning even if SSL is installed properly.

Sometimes browsers take time to reflect the changes. Try clearing your cache or checking in an incognito window.

Whenever I’m unsure, I just run the domain through an online SSL checker — there are free tools that show if the certificate is valid, properly chained, or if anything’s misconfigured. It really helps pinpoint whether the issue is with the certificate itself or something like a missing intermediate file.
