Why cPanel never evolved as a platform?

    Hello everyone,,

Many web hosting companies are using cPanel as their core server/application management platform. When I first used it almost 5 to 6 years ago, it hasn't much evolved interms of showbox[.]bio tutuapp[.]uno vidmate[.]vet convenience, flexibility, features, automation of different processes, interface etc.

What is the reason behind it?

Second, what are some alternatives to cPanel (companies) which has tried to do incremental innovation to cash-on to this opportunity? I see Plesk, Cloudways, Flywheel?

I think there's just not much point. If you know what you're doing on the hosting side you're probably not using cpanel anyway. If you are familiar with cpanel and happy to use it to manage your webhosting then you'd probably just be annoyed about any major changes. These kind of niche business tools move at a glacial pace because people don't really care about the tool, they just want to be able to do their job without having to re-learn anything if possible.

It sounds like most people here haven't used cPanel except for on shared hosts where its been deliberately handicapped for security reasons on multi-tenant servers.

If you have the fully enabled version of cPanel with root access on a VPS it is a platform and is incredibly powerful, with a full API, and configuration for just about everything.
