Most of the hosting providers provides facility to update Awstats to their users from cPanel by clicking on Update now link. However, it will consume more server resources and not a good idea if you update stats for a high traffic website.
If you wish then you can disable this option from WHM. Below are the exact steps:
Login to WHM account.
Go to Tweak settings.
Uncheck the option "Allow users to update Awstats" from cPanel and save it.
