Are free SSL certificates enough for security in 2025, or should I invest in premium SSL?

I’ve been using Let’s Encrypt (free SSL) for a few years now, and honestly, it covers the basics. It keeps the browser happy with HTTPS and gives that little padlock icon. For blogs, portfolios, or small business sites, free SSL seems enough.

Yeah, free SSL does the encryption part, but premium SSL usually comes with extras like warranty, extended validation, or even better customer support. If you’re running an eCommerce store or handling payments, premium might give extra peace of mind.

I’d say look at what your hosting provider already gives. Many bundle free SSL, but also offer upgrades if you want EV or Wildcard SSL. It really depends on your site type and audience.
