As of me the search engines may treat your subdomain as a separate website address especially if you keep you content quite different from main domain.

Re: Difference Between Sub Domain and Sub Folder

Generally serach engine consider Sub Domain as an unique address within the existing domain name and crawl it independently to the main domain name such as Debt Consolidation Loans but in case of sub folder serach engine will consider it as a part of the original web site and generally it needn't to add links to the search engines as the main page get crawled it will get listed gradually if it is linked from the home page or other pages within the site. If you are desired to create a site not relevent to the main home page it will better to create sub domain for your site and you should add it independently to the search engines to crawl it properly. But in case of folder you dont need to do such thing

A sub-folder is a container that is under a parent folder on a server. It represents a step in the site hierarchy, usually starting with the homepage as the primary parent with extra pages added on as a sub-folder.

In the root folder of your domain and the database folder. Many Web hosting servers in the root folder is public_html directory. If you need to get in touch with your hosting support team.

Re: Difference Between Sub Domain and Sub Folder

The difference between folders and subdomains is very, very clear.

A subdomain is for a completely different aspect of your site with a whole
                  other subject.

Like a forum. You would want forum . domain.com
                  Or email. Like email. domain.com

It is not for just another sub-category for your website. That would be
                  a folder.

                  Baseballcards/1950s/star players.

If you did starplayers domain.com, it would look like a complete site
on just star players. Whereas starplayers looks like a niche of your baseball cards.

You want folders. It allows you to gather in long tail searches.

The subdomain is actually looked upon as a complete, different, separate
                  domain.

But since www goes to the same site as non, it is not a tragedy. Just build
all links to one or the other, or 301 redirect. But it is really not that important
in the long scheme of things.

Re: Difference Between Sub Domain and Sub Folder

thanks for the information. I had no idea about this sub domain and sub folder issue. It means if we are link building our sub folder it will not make any effect on Google crawler.
