Difference Between Sub Domain and Sub Folder

Generally serach engine consider Sub Domain as an unique address within the existing domain name and crawl it independently to the main domain name such as http://top9.atspace.com but in case of sub folder serach engine will consider it as a part of the original web site and generally it needn't to add links to the search engines as the main page get crawled it will get listed gradually if it is linked from the home page or other pages within the site. If you are desired to create a site not relevent to the main home page it will better to create sub domain for your site and you should add it independently to the search engines to crawl it properly. But in case of folder you dont need to do such thing

SubFolder : A folder created inside a folder on your web hosting account similar to the sub folder you create in your computers hard drive. It is followed by a front slash from the main directory, like yourwebsite/subfolder.

SubDomain : A Sub domain is a part of the main directory/domain and is comes as a part of the main domain name. In the following domain name internet.com - the Internet and IT Network from WebMediaBrands Inc. internet is a sub domain for the com domain name and this is the same way sub domains are created.

hosting of sub domain means domain categories.
But sub folder is folder of domain.

The root folder is the base folder of your domain. On many hosting servers the root folder is the public_html folder. If in doubt you should get in touch with the support team of your hosting service.

A subdomain is sometimes termed a vanity domain and part of a larger domain,like "mail.yahoo.com" is a a subdomain of the "yahoo.com" domain.

Sub Folder is a folder contained within another folder (sometimes called the parent folder).

I think Sub domain is a part of Main domain than a sub folder contain in any other folder.

Sub-domain a lower-level component of a domain name and Sub-folder is a folder under the parent folder.

Sub Domain is the child of domain like Mitsubishi.com is a domain and accounts.Mitsubishi is sub domain.Where as sub folder is the folder inside a folder.

I think that the sub domain is a name front of main domain and sub folder is a name of a html file behind the main domain. Is it?

this topic is being discussed nowadyas in many seo forums and there is no exact answer as what is better for seo subfolders or subdomains, they say that subdomains method will require more time for seo to take effect, and higher budget, surely
