ColdFusion is a programming language based on standard HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) that is used to write dynamic webpages. It lets you create pages on the fly that differ depending on user input, database lookups, time of day or whatever other criteria you dream up! ColdFusion pages consist of standard HTML tags such as <FONT SIZE=.+2.>, together with CFML (ColdFusion Markup Language) tags such as <CFQUERY>, <CFIF> and <CFLOOP>. ColdFusion was introduced by Allaire in 1996, acquired by Macromedia in a merger in April 2001, and acquired by Adobe in December 2005. It is currently in version 7.0.1, but the next version of the product (codenamed Scorpio) is already in development.

          Re: What is ColdFusion?

With Cold Fusion, a user could enter a zip code on a Web page, and the server would query a database for information on the nearest movie theaters and present the results in HTML form. Cold Fusion Web pages include tags written in Cold Fusion Markup Language (CFML) that simplify integration with databases and avoid the use of more complex languages like C++ to create translating programs.....

I think Every Developer knows that Coldfusion is a name of Commercial Rapid Web Application Development Platform. It used to connect HTML PAGES to DB and one of the distinguishing features of ColdFusion is its associated scripting language, ColdFusion Markup Language.

              Main Features of ColdFusion are

              Simplified database access
              Client and server cache management
Client-side code generation, especially for form widgets and validation
Conversion from HTML to PDF and FlashPaper
