  • What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing, though relatively new, has been a revelation for small as well as big businesses across the globe. It can significantly minimize IT costs and complexities besides enhancing optimization of workload and service delivery. This revelation is characterized by new and web-driven economics and provides a superior experience to the users.
The concept of cloud computing revolves around building dynamic infrastructure and attaining less with more. It helps in leveraging standardization, virtualization, and automation for increasing the levels of flexibility and resource utilization besides reducing costs.

        Re: What is Cloud Computing?

What is cloud computing? Everyone in the technology world is talking about it and a lot of people in the business world are asking the same question, What is cloud computing, and what does it mean for my business?

Cloud computing platforms are growing in popularity, but why? What unique advantages does a cloud computing architecture offer to companies in today's economic climate? And what just what is cloud computing, anyway? Let's explore the cloud computing infrastructure and its impact on critically important areas to IT, like security, infrastructure investments, business application development, and more.

Most IT departments are forced to spend a significant portion of their time on frustrating implementation, maintenance, and upgrade projects that too often don't add significant value to the company's bottom line. Increasingly, IT teams are turning to cloud computing technology to minimize the time spent on lower-value activities and allow IT to focus on strategic activities with greater impact on the business.

Instead of running applications on your computer they are run from central servers which you access to view data. The computing/calculating is done elsewhere, you just view the data and direct commands.

Remote machines owned by another company would run everything from e-mail to word processing to complex data analysis programs. It's called cloud computing, and it could change the entire computer industry.

Maintenance cloud computing applications are easier to maintain, since they don't have to be installed on each user's computer. They are easier to support and to improve since the changes reach the clients instantly.

                      Re: What is Cloud Computing?

in my easy wording : Cloud computing is a technology that uses the internet and central remote servers to maintain data and applications. Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to use applications without installation and access their personal files at any computer with internet access. This technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory, processing and bandwidth.

                        Re: What is Cloud Computing?

A cloud can be private or public. A public cloud sells services to anyone on the Internet. (Currently, Amazon Web Services is the largest public cloud provider.) A private cloud is a proprietary network or a data center that supplies hosted services to a limited number of people. When a service provider uses public cloud resources to create their private cloud, the result is called a virtual private cloud. Private or public, the goal of cloud computing is to provide easy, scalable access to computing resources and IT services.

ed services over the Internet. These services are broadly divided into three categories: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The name cloud computing was inspired by the cloud symbol that's often used to represent the Internet in flowcharts and diagrams.
