I've not figured it out myself either. I have deep sub-pages that rank well in MSN, but my higher level pages just seem to be lost. They are indexed, but don't rank well for anything. I'd gotten a tip that yahoo doesn't like any H1 text to exactly match the title. Helped things with Yahoo! But...I never got any similar, specific advice for MSN/Live.
