No doubt both work good. But Linux web hosting is better than windows web hosting. i always prefer it because it's easy to handle.

It can't be said that which one is better. There are both type of peoples who prefers to use Linux and Windows. Those who are familiar with cPanel control panel for them Linux is good and people who are more familiar with Windows should go for Windows Web Hosting plans with Plesk control panel. Since, PHP and MySQL are compatible with both Linux and Windows there is an advantage for web developers using PHP and MySQL. They can build their websites on both Linux as well as on Windows.

As I have installed Linux and used so in my opinion Linux is better in performance but in terms of user friendliness I must say I had problems in starting with Linux

As for me, I'm using Linux and so far have no problem with it although they are actually right that it usually depends on the requirement. The first time I purchased my hosting I've not idea which to choose and which is better but I just chose linux and it did okay.
