After updating to 19.2, Update Manager keeps including kernel updates.

I thought in a previous iteration, I'd tasked my Update Manager to "Keep me safe" or something like that, so I'd avoided kernel updates previously.

However, the Update manager keeps including sweepstakes slots Linux Kernel upgrades in the pre-selected options. I keep unselecting them and updating other things (Chrome, etc)

Is the inclusion of kernel updates normal behavior for Update Manager? I can't find an option in Preferences for "Keep my computer safe" anymore.

Yes, the inclusion of kernel updates is the normal behavior for Update Manager. It is good to keep a "Keep me safe" option enabled to keep your system stable. I did the same thing. It keeps the partially bad-coded parts of the kernel from disturbing the stability of the system.
But there comes a time when the kernel in use becomes too outdated to handle the operations of your system. Then a better kernel is needed. Hence, the update manager manages the kernel.
You should allow the update manager to update itself from time to time.
