Why has my pop3 connection stopped working?

I've been using Thunderbird with pop3 for years now, but since September 1, I get the message:

Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Invalid user/password

I haven't touched my account settings in Thunderbird.
I can access my email through the browser interface.
