Change in DNS settings in Windows.

How do you change the DNS settings in Windows if the DNS settings are assigned by Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)?

To modify the DNS settings on your Windows computer, even if they are assigned through Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), please adhere to the provided instructions:
    1. Launch the Start menu and search for "Control Panel" to access it.
    2. Within the Control Panel, locate and click on the "Network and Internet" category.
    3. Look for the option labeled "Network and Sharing Center" and click on it.
    4. In the Network and Sharing Center, you'll find the active network connection you are using, displayed as a link next to "Connections" (e.g., "Ethernet" or "Wi-Fi"). Select the name of your connection.
    5. A new window will open. Click on the "Properties" button.
    6. Locate either "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" or "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" in the list and select it.
    7. Click on the "Properties" button located below the list.
    8. In the properties window, you will encounter two options: "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Use the following DNS server addresses." By default, the "Obtain DNS server address automatically" option is chosen.
    9. Switch to the "Use the following DNS server addresses" option.
    10. Now, you can input the preferred and alternate DNS server addresses of your choice. These DNS server addresses can be obtained from your network administrator, Internet service provider (ISP), or you can utilize public DNS servers such as Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1).
    11. Enter the preferred DNS server address in the "Preferred DNS server" field and, if available, the alternate DNS server address in the "Alternate DNS server" field.
    12. Save the changes by clicking on "OK".
After modifying the DNS server addresses, your computer will prioritize the specified DNS servers for name resolution, effectively overriding the DNS settings assigned by DHCP.
