Windows VPS :: Could not connect to Remote Desktop

Problem Statement

I am receiving ping down alerts for my VPS and I could not connect to Remote Desktop.

Solution

One of our Windows VPS customer could not connect to Window VPS through Remote Desktop. Upon checking further, we noticed that ICMP ping requests were enabled though we were unable to ping his VPS through our monitoring system.

After some investigation we came to know that customer had installed Kaspersky firewall which was blocking Remote Desktop and ICMP requests. installation. Customer had disabled Kaspersky firewall and RDP issue was fixed.
