SQL Database Servers
According to my knowledge following is a list of well known database servers.
Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft SQL server is a well known SQL Server Databse. MSSQL Server is only available on windows platforms, so you can't run it on platforms like Linux or one of the BSD Unixes, or a the much more scalable commercial Unixes.
Advantages: Best GUI availalbe, Runs on Windows Platform, Faster, Easy integration with asp.net
Disadvantages: Expensive Hosting, Not available on Linux - Unix Platforms
mYSQL Database Server

Advantages: Open-Source, Free Version, runs on Linux and Windows Both, Faster, Easy integration with php
DisAdvantages: Difficult to get free version Support, Less GUI compared to MSSQL DB
PostGre SQL Database Server PostgreSQL is the highly scalable, SQL compliant, open source object-relational database management system. The PostgreSQL relational database system (RDBMS) came from the POSTGRES project at the University of California at Berkley. It runs primarily on Unix-Like systems, but an NT version is also available.
Advantages: Open-Source, Free version, very fast
DisAdvantages: Limited user group, GUI
Oracle Oracle is a very popular, fast and secure database in the industry. Industry claims that oracle is the fastest, most secure database availalbe in the market. It runs on linux and unile-like platforms.
Advantages: Fast, secure, scalable, Runs on Windows + Linux environments
DisAdvantages: Very Costly
